Nerves Flashcards
Great Auricular Nerve (C2,3)
Ascending vertically across the SCM onto the parotid gland, where it divides and supplies the skin and sheath over the gland, posterior aspect of auricle and the area of skin overlying the angle of the mandible to mastoid process
Lesser Occipital Nerve (C2)
Supplies the skin and scalp posterosuperior to the auricle
Transverse Cervical Nerve (C2,3)
Supplies the skin covering the anterior cervical region; nerve curves around the middle of post. border of SCM and passes anteriorly and horizontally across it, deep to EJC and platysma
Supraclavicular Nerves (C3,4)
Common trunk under cover of SCM and send small branches to skin of neck and cross the clavicle to supply the skin over the shoulder
Phrenic Nerves (C3,-4-,5,)
Contains motor, sensory, and sympathetic nerve fibers
Forms on the anterior scalene muscle at the level of superior border of thyroid cartilage
Dorsal Scapular Nerve (C5)
–
Spinal Accessory Nerve (CN X1)
Passes deep to SCM, supplying it before it enters lateral cervical region at or inferior to junction of superior and middle thirds of post. border of SCM
External Jugular Vein
Begins near the angle of the mandible below the auricle of external ear
Transverse Cervical Arterry
–
Suprascapular Artery
Arises from cervicodorsal trunk, or directly from subclavian artery from the subclavian artery, passes inferolaterally across the anterior scalene muscle and phrenic nerve
