How does it present?
Which clincal feature would suggest cord compression?
What are its causes?
A
➊ • Pain along dermatome
• Numbness
• LMN signs - Weakness, Reduced reflexes, Wasting (if left untreated)
➋ UMN signs below the level of the affected root
➌ • Mechanical compression - Disk herniation (most common), OA, Tumour
• Other - Diabetic neuropathy, Shingles, HIV

What are the investigations to do?
How is it managed?
A
➊ • History and examination
• MRI - check for mechanical causes
➋ • Analgesia
• Treat underlying cause
