Lateral displacement of knees w/o adequate support

Surgery in sacro-iliac fossa (usually gyn-onc)
Compromises knee flexion and foot dorsiflexon
Candy cane stirrups- external rotation of hip and incomplete flexion at the knee
Femoral nerve injury
L2-L4
Use of large blade self-retaining retractor on thin pt over psoas
Exaggerated hip flexion in dorsal lithotomy
Sensory loss ant/med thigh
Quads-inability to lift knee
Ilio-inguinal nerve injury
T12-L1
Directly cut or suture entrapment with pfannenstiel
Sensory loss medial labium manis
No motor loss
Ilio-hypogastric
T12-L1
Directly cut or suture entrapment with pfannenstiel
Sensory loss over symphysis down to labium majus
No motor loss
Pudendal nerve
S2,3,4
Exist pelvis through greater sciatic notch
Traverses lateral to ischial spine and enters is hip recital fossa through lesser sciatic notch
Erb’s palsy
C5-C6
Waiter’s tip
Hangs at side medically rotated, forearm extended and pronated
Klumpke’s paralysis
C8-T1
Problem for pianist
Hand and wrist paralysis, arm hangs glacially at side
Grasp reflex lost
