Nerve & Action Flashcards
Rectus Femoris Act & Nerve
Extend the knee, flex the hip. Femoral nerve.
Vastus Medialis Act & Nerve
Extend the knee. Femoral nerve.
Vastus Lateralis Act & Nerve
Extend the knee. Femoral nerve.
Vastus lateralis Act & Nerve
Extend the knee. Femoral nerve.
Biceps femoris Actions
Flex the knee (tibiofemoral joint), laterally rotate the flex knee (t/f joint), long head: extend the hip (coxal joint) assist to laterally rotate hip (coxal joint), tilt pelvis posteriorly.
Biceps femoris Innervation
Long head: sciatic (tibial branch) Short head: sciatic (peroneal branch).
Semitendinosus Actions
Flex the knee (tibiofemoral joint). Medially rotate the flexed knee (t/f joint). Extend the hip (coxal joint). Assist to medially rotate the hip (coxal joint). Tilt the pelvis posteriorly.
Semitendinosus Innervation
Sciatic (tibial branch)
Semimembranosus Actions
Flex the knee (t/f joint). Medially rotate the flexed knee (t/f joint). Extend the hip (coxal joint). Assist to medially rotate the hip (coxal joint). Tilt pelvis posteriorly.
Semimembranosus Innervation
Sciatic nerve (tibial branch)
Gluteus Maximus Actions
All fibers: Extend the hip (coxal joint). Laterally rotate the hip (coxal joint). Abduct the hip (coxal joint). Lower fibers: Adduct the hip.
Glute Max Innervation
Inferior gluteal nerve.
Glute Med Actions
All Fibers: Abduct the hip (coxal joint). Anterior Fibers: Flex the hip, medially rotate the hip. Posterior Fibers: Extend the hip, laterally rotate the hip.
Glute Med & Glute Min Innervation
Superior gluteal nerve
Gluteus Minimus Actions
Abduct the hip, medially rotate the hip, flex the hip.
Adductor Magnus A & N
Adduct the hip, medially rotate the hip, assist to flex the hip. Posterior fibers: Extend the hip. Obturator nerve and Sciatic nerve.
