What is the first step in neonatal life support?
Dry and stimulate baby, maintain temperature
What should you do after drying the baby?
Start clock
Assess colour, tone, breathing and HR
What should you do if the baby is not breathing?
Give 5 inflation breaths and reassess for chest movements
What should you do if no chest wall movement?
Try airway manoeuvres
Repeat 5 inflation breaths
What should you do if the heart rate is < 60?
Start chest compressions and ventilation breaths
3:1 for 30 seconds
Reassess HR - if absent or < 60 consider IV access and drugs (adrenaline
Continue ventilation and chest compression
