What is the Fertile Crescent?
Definition: An area of land between the Euphrates River and the Tigris River that is good for growing crops.
Also known as Mesopotamia.
What is the Neolithic Age?
Definition: Time period between 8000 and 3000 BCE.
Achievements Include: Growing crops, raising livestock, making pottery, and settling in villages.
What are resources?
Definition: The things you have and use to survive
Examples: animals, wood, oil
What is agriculture?
Definition: The process of modifying the environment to meet humans’ needs. This includes farming and raising animals for food.
What is domestication?
Definition: Making something more useful to humans. (Usually a plant or animal)
What is irrigation?
Definition: Technology used to bring water to crops which allowed people to grow more food.
What is a food surplus?
Definition: When more food is produced than needed to survive which means extra food.
What is economy?
Definition: The system a community uses to produce and distribute goods and services.
Example: In prehistoric communities, economy was based on agriculture.
What is specialization?
Definition: When people become experts in different areas of work and have different jobs.
What is hierarchy?
Definition: When people are considered more imprint or are more powerful any society. This helps to create Government in the Neolithic age.
