privatisation is when industries and services that are ran by the state are sold off, or tendered out to private companies. This process began in the 1980s.

the state cannot meet the needs of the people and state run services are inefficient and wasteful- offer poor value for money

education has largely failed and takes a one size fits all approach

argue in favor of marketisation of education - schools should be ran like a business for consumers. more competition between schools .

state still has to play a role. must impose a framework (like OFSTED).
