Q

What is the following formula representing:

P=0.023cN^2

A

Where c is the fraction of pairs that are connected and N is the number of neurons.

Q

How does the cortex learn memories?

A

It tends to learn memories slowly, in a way that discovers overlaps and exploits them for learning.. As opposed to the hippocampus which is capable of storing memories very quickly with little chance of overlap.

Q

What is the connection between memories in the hippocampus and the cortex?

A

It is believed memories are first stored in the hippocampus and over time if they are important they are learnt from their to neocortex where they are are stored in a rich, interconnected way.
