Based on oxygen requirements
BPD is inversely related to gestational age and birth weight
Caused by high vent pressure and oxygen

Very common with the pediatric population (80%)
Affects children younger than 2 years old
Occur annually during the winter
Bronchiolitis or Pneumonia
Tracheoesophageal fistula

Symptoms: drooling, choking, dyspnea with feeding
Diaphragmatic Hernia
Is the failure of the diaphragm to close with herniation of bowels into the left thorax
Symptoms: right sided heart sounds, scaphoid abdomen, barrel chest, cyanosis, and respiratory distress immediately after birth.
Cystic Fibrosis (CF)
Sweat chloride testing: 60 mmol/L or greater confirms diagnosis
