NORMAL: Present Negative
“ne” and “pas” surround the verb;
It become “n” before a vowel.
In colloquial French the “ne” is barely pronounced often,

Jamais - never
Plus - no longer, no more
Personne - nobody (if with “ne”)
Rien - nothing
He doesn’t smoke anymore

He never goes out
