Q

Negative feedback

A

Works to correct deviation from a set point( tries to get back to normal point)
When you body gets cold your body shivers to bring up the temperature and if it’s too warm the body will sweat to cool down due to evaporation
Blood pressure
Oxygen levels in the blood
Thirst sensations

Q

Positive feedback

A

This is bad for your body, this changes from the normal point and amplifies it.
Example: blood clot formation; amplifies chemicals in the clot promote further clotting UNTIL its sealed.
Milk production; as long as the baby is nursing milk will be produced UNTIL babies done.
Uterine contractions during childbirth; contractions UNTIL the baby is out no more stimulus.
Fever; the body heats self to get rid of the virus/ bacteria UNTIL the enemy is destroyed

Q

Lymphatic system

A

Red bone marrow, thymus, lymphatic vessels, thoracic duct, spleen, lymph nodes. Houses white blood cells involved in immunity. Returns leaked fluids from blood vessels to the blood and disposes within the lymphatic stream

18
Q

Digestive system

A

Oral cavity, esophagus, liver, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, rectum, anus. Breaks down food to be absorbed and eliminates indigestible waste

19
Q

Nervous system

A

Brain, spinal cord, nerves, control system of the body responds to internal and external changes. Activates muscles and glands

20
Q

Endocrine system

A

Pineal gland, pituitary gland, thyroid glands, thymus, adrenal glands, pancreas, ovary, testis. Glands from the endocrine system secrete hormones that regulates many processes like growth, metabolism, and reproduction.

21
Q

Cardiovascular system

A

Heart, blood vessels. The heart pumps blood and blood vessels transports it. Blood carries oxygen and carbon dioxide, nutrients and waste and more throughout the body

22
Q

Urinary system

A

Kidney, ureter, urinary bladder, urethra. Eliminates nitrogenous waste from the body. Regulates acid-base. Electrolytes and water balance of blood

23
Q

Sagittal plane

A

Runs vertically through the body separating right and left portions

24
Q

Median plane

A

Sagittal plane that passes through the midline of the body dividing it into equal rights and left halves

25
Q

Transverse

A

Horizontal plane. Runs parallel to the ground dividing the body into superior and inferior portions

26
Q

Frontal (coronal) plane

A

Runs vertically from right to left and divides the body into anterior and posterior parts (front and back)

27
Q

Longitudinal section

A

Cut through the long axis of an organ

28
Q

Transverse (cross) section

A

Cut at right angles to the long axis of an organ

29
Q

Oblique section

A

A cut made across the long axis at other than a right angle (not at a right angle)

30
Q

Proximal

A

Above the elbow

31
Q

Distal

A

Below the elbow

32
Q

Posterior

A

Behind(butt is posterior to your face)

33
Q

Anterior

A

Face (your face is anterior to your butt)

34
Q

Lateral

A

Outside (shoulders are lateral to your nose)

35
Q

Medial

A

Middle(inside) your nose is medial to your eyes

36
Q

Superior

A

Top (your head is superior to your feet)

37

Right lumbar region

Groin

A

The right side of the abdomen

41
Q

Left lumbar region

Groin

A

Left side of the abdomen

42
Q

Hypogastric region

A

Encompasses the pubic area

43
Q

Epigastric region

A

Overlies the lateral aspects of the lower ribs
