Can one become a nazir by thought alone?.
No. He/she must verbally express the desire to become a nazir.
May a person use substitute words to indicate his intention of becoming a nazir?
Yes. As long as his intention is clear. For example, in context his intention was clear, words that sound like nazir are effective.
What happens to the nazir if he becomes tamei mes?
He forfeits all of the prior days of nezirus and needs to become tahor. Upon achieving taharoh (thru the sprinkling of the water mixed poroh adumah ash on days #3 and 7 and immersing in a mikvah) he must restart the term of his nezirus vow.
However, before he can do so he must shave his head on the seventh day of his purification process and bring his korbanos (chatos, olah and oshom) on day #8 before he can restart counting his days of nezirus.
How does a tamei meis become tahor?
- Cease contact with the source of tumah.
- Be sprinkled on days #3 and 7 with the water that is mixed with the ashes of the poroh adumah
- Immerse in the mikvah on day #7 after the second sprinking. (immersion may even be during the day).
- Wait until nightfall where upon he becomes tahor.

What are the differences between nazir Shimshon and nazir olam (permanent nazir)?
Nazir olam may not become a tamei meis, but if this occurs, he needs the purification procedure of Shaving of Tumah where he brings the 2 bird offering with the oshom.
Nazir Shimshon can never cut his hair (like a standard nazir) and is permitted to become a tamei meis. He never needs the purification of Shaving of Tumah.
How long is the shortest term of nezirus?
30 days.
It says in the Torah, kadosh yihyeh. The gematriya of yihyeh is 30. This is an asmachta (a torah textual allusion) to a halacha leMoshe miSinai.
