1000 marks were provided to encourage young couples to marry

if a wife would not or couldn’t have children, husband could divorce them with this reason

- encouraged childbirth, award given to the number of children they had
- Hitler Youth were ordered to salute to those awarded gold medals
What was Lebenborn?
initially provided financial aid for women, than encouraged single women to breed with SS/ ‘genetically pure’

- banned from professional posts such as teachers, doctors,civil servants, 36,000 women had given up work
- no women could become a judge, layer or even do jury service
- Schoolgirls were trained for motherhood, housework
- grammar schools for girls were banned

many women did not support Nazi ideas, they believed it degraded women
