-women should not work especially those married= number of employed women decreased
-women should get married (marriage law of 1933) = number of married people did increase but reason isnt clear
-women should have atleast 4 kids= birth rate did increase but other factors may be involved

-girls= strong healthy to have children
-boys= strong healthy enough to work for germany
examples of youth activities
boys: shooting, military drills
both: hiking and camping, learning about nazis and their belief
girls: cooking, housework. needlework and craft

children had to attend till they were 14
seperate for boys and girls
teachers:
needed to be part of nazi party
taught nazi beliefs in training
subjects:

both were taught traditional
propaganda:
lessons begin with salute
National labour service
july 1935
compulsory fro all men 18-25 to serve 6 months
many hated the scheme as work was hard and long with little pay
job creation schemes
reduced unemployment by putting money into large products
egs public buildings
motorways
sport facilities
nazi worker organisations
German labour front= replaced trade union and ran several schemes
strength though joy= aimed to increase worker productivity
beauty of labour=aimed to improve conidtions eg, canteens reducing noise
the volkswagen= design a car for familys 5 marks a week paid towards it but no one had enough money
standard of living overall
better off:
-more jobs for people
-average wases rose by 20%
-car ownerships increased
worse off:
-cost of food rose so cancelled out pay rise
-only high earners could afford cars

aryan= master race
other white western europeans
eastern europeans=slavs
black & gypsies
jews= subhuman
untermenschen
meant inferior people= blacks,jews,slavs etc
nuremburg law banned aryans from marrying sub human
many were arrested and sent to camps
other undesirables
homosexuals= sent to camps to correct their illness
deaf,blind people- sterilised to purify them
mentally and physically disabled babies were killed
reasons why jews were persecuted
-associated with communism
-jealous of their success with their businesses
-blamed for germans defeat in WW1
used as scapegoats for germanys issues
why other races allowed it
-distrust of jewish people within europe
-influence of nazi anti semitic propaganda
-fear of gestapo and ss
jewish business timeline
1933= boycott of jewish shops
1937= business was taken over by aryan
1938= jewish has to register their property and shops were set on fire
1939= unable to own shops/ businesses
