why did the Nazis need to control the workforce?
They needed to control the workforce because this would increase their power over the people massively, they could hire and fire as they wanted.
How did the Nazis take control of the workforce?
They banned strikes and all trade unions, plus they got the workers on their side by giving them cheap holidays to the countryside and the Volkswagen scheme.
What is a trade union?
A union that protects the worker’s rights eg they might intervene if pay is low or conditions aren’t safe to work in.
What was the Volkswagen scheme?
Volkswagen (literally people’s car) is where the Nazis let the workers buy cars. However as the materials and funding for this went to making artillery for the war Hitler was anticipating, the workers were never given their cars and it was a scam.
