The ability to strike in any situation globally.

Gulf - Strait of hormuz acting as peace keepers following Iran-Iraq war and allowing essential trade of gas an oil to continue.

What are the 3 types of operations?
Military
Constabulary
Defence diplomacy
What are military op?
Warfighting at sea , supporting troops, deterrence, patrols, minehunting and intelligence gathering.
What are constabulary ops?
Support the international rule of law. Protecting maritime trade and countering illegal activity,
What are diplomacy ops?
Soft power.
e.g. in response to unforseen events. Humanitarian aid natural disasters etc.
What is the role of the surface fleet?
Provide versatility, global presence and and resilience. Surface fleet provides a fighting force across all operations.
What is the role of the royal fleet auxillary?
Civilian support branch that gives vital logistics and operational support. UK merchant sailors. RFA supports in war fighting, counter piracy, disaster relief counter narcotics, law enforcement and evacuation ops.
What is the role of the royal marines?
Elite, optimised ready for rapid response and threat neutralisation world wide.
What is the role of the fleet air arm?
Aviation branch responsible for delivering air power in humanitarian ops to securing seas, fighing terrorism and landing troops onto hositle shores.
