Non-Directional Beacon, Radio Station (transmits signal in all directions), Colocated with ILS usually
VOR
⬡ VHF Omnidirectional Range, Transmits 360 radials (1 to 360 degrees), Aircraft tracks radials, hexagon symbol
DME
Distance Measuring Equipment, Colocated with NAVAIDS, Gives a/c distance from station (slant range)
TACAN
Tactical Air Navigation, Operates in UHF range, VOR but for military
VORTAC
Combined VOR-DME and TACAN, allows for military/civilian use
ILS (Instrument Landing System)
Instrument Landing System, Gives course guidance and glideslope
MLS
Microwave Landing System, Designed to replace ILS
