- Pre-disaster
- Disruption
- Relief
- Rehabilitation
- Reconstruction
What does the Park Model show?
Shows how responses progress during a disaster, which may help to predict what resources will be needed at each stage.
Help prepare for future hazard events.
Help mitigate the impacts of future hazards.
What are the four phases in the Hazard Management Cycle?
- Mitigation
- Preparedness
- Response
- Recovery
What is Mitigation?
Aims to minimise the impacts of future disasters. Can happen before a hazard occurs or afterwards, when the area is recovering.
E.G. Flood Defences Fire-resistant roofs
What is Preparedness?
About planning how to respond to a hazard.
E.G. Ensuring warning systems are in place
What is Response?
How people react when a disaster occurs.
E.G. rescue efforts
What is Recover?
About getting the effected area back to normal.
E.G. repairing or rebuilding houses.
