What is a natural hazard?
A natural even that threatens people and the environment.
What is a tectonic hazard?
A hazard involving plates, for example: earthquake, volcanoes.
What is a natural hazard?
A natural process which could cause distractions to humans or destroy property’s and areas
What is a conservative plate?
2 plates slip past each other in opposite directions
What is a destructive plate?
Oceanic plate that descends below a less dense continental plate
How do volcanoes occur.
Molten rock from mantle reach the earths surface. The hot air rises and pushes up and releases lava
What are the human factors effecting hazard risk?
Population, whether country is HIC or LIC and capability to cope
What are the natural factors effecting hazard risk?
The type of hazard, the frequency and magnitude, and the physical geography of the area
What are the primary effects of a hazard?
Road destruction, death and injuries, water contaminated, communication cables damaged.
What are the secondary effects of a hazard?
Initial hazard can trigger other hazards, emergency aid can’t get through due to blocked roads, lack of sanitation can lead to disease breaking out and the economy is weakened
What are the immediate responses for a hazard?
Evacuation of people, treat the injured and rescue people, temporary shelter and food supplies , and foreign government workers providing aid
What are the long term responses for a hazard?
Repair houses and design them to withstand hazards, repair roads, improving forecasting and monitor changes in weather, improve evacuation plans and promote tourism in the area to boost the economy.
