What happened in the unification of Italy?
Italy was divided into kingdoms/city-states and this was because of the congress of vienna. After, there were cultural differences in the different city-states but they were united. there were different dialects and northern italy was industrialized and southern italy was not.
What happened in the unification of Germany?
Germany was divided into 39 city-states but they were very weak separate. Bismarck brought them together and they became a superpower. When this happened, other european countries were threatened.
What happened in the expansion of Russia?
Syberia was not industrialized and this caused Russia to lack a warm water port. Russia also lacked nationalism. Alexander 2 emancipated the serfs, and that lead to industrialization. He also tries to take over the black sea port but he fails. He is assassinated and his son takes over. His son screws it all up because he is orthodox and repressive. He goes back to. feudalism and serfs.
