alternate, dusty buds, toothed long ovate leaf, small 3/4-1.5 inch spiked ball containing the fruit
Shingle Oak
alternate, conical cluster of buds, ovate leaf with NO teeth, thatched roof acorn cap
Callery pear
alternate, small stubby almost heart-shaped ovate leaf, large fuzzy white bud
Boxelder
Opposite, v shape leaf scar, compound long ovate leaf, green young twigs
Norway Maple
Opposite, small sugar-maple like leaves with long teeth, three pronged dark red bud
Silver Maple
Opposite, three pronged deeply sinated leaf, buds can be found in dense clusters along twig
Pawpaw
Alternate, smooth bark with warts, ovate no teeth leaves, brown/black fuzzy buds along twig
Blackgum
Alternate, ovate no teeth leaves, three dots in leaf scar, small buds
American Beech
Alternate, distinctly toothed leaves, small spikey balled fruit
Sassafras
Alternate, mitten leaves, white-ish yellow buds, orange inner bark, twig smells like fruit loops
Sweet Cherry
Alternate, deep lenticels on smooth bark, slightly serrated ovate leaf which is fatter than Black Cherry, sharp red buds
Bigtooth Aspen
Alternate, deep cut toothed ovate leaf (like someone took little bites out of it)
Black Willow
Alternate, very thin unique lance leaves, young yellow branches
