Why are step up transformers used
A
to prevent energy loss due to heat (if current was high heat loss would be increased)

How do you proof that a high current causes power loss
A
in this case use P=I^2R
Resistance is fixed because you can’t shorten the grid
Therefore the current is responsible for loss of power.
