Enigma
A mystery to draw the audience in
Example - the cover lines on Tatler Magazine present a series of puzzles that can only be solved by buying the magazine and reading the contents
Binary Opposition
Complete contrasts, in order to construct a narrative within a text (example good v evil)
In the Galaxy advert the binary Opposition is the idea of streets v relaxation (the chocolate is associated with relaxation)
Propp’s theory
This theory States that the narrative is driven by the actions of the characters
Todorov’s theory
Equilibrium, Disequilibrium, New Equilibrium
