Nanoparticles Flashcards
The measurement of a nanoparticle?
1X10-9m or 0.000000001m
What is a nanoparticle?
This is the science of the very small things in the universe that are close to atom size and can help us see what the universe is made of and how it works.
The unit of a nanoparticle?
Metres
Why do nanoparticles of materials react differently?
This is due to most of their atoms being at the top of the surface meaning it will have different reactions to the same material in a bigger form.
What is the difference between surface area and volume?
Surface area is looking more at what is on the surface (as you could guess) and the volume is about how much capacity it can hold.
Do nanoparticles have high SA or V?
Surface Area
Why do they have a higher surface area?
This is because there are more atoms on the surface than in the volume altogether.
A use of a nanoparticle?
A silver nanoparticle can be used to keep bacteria at bay on many objects such as shoes, tables and more.
