Distillation Flashcards
Distillation
Distillation is a method for separating the solvent from a solution. Water can be separated from salt solution by distillation.
Crystallisation process
This is where a liquid substance changes to its solid form but from the solution evaporated first. So then the solution is warmed snd then it evaporates and then it will cool and form a solid.
Filtration process
A mixture of water and an insoluble substance like sand can be separated by filtering. So it is poured into a filter tunnel which has filter paper and then all the water and soluble things will go into the flask bit then things like sand will be left at the top.
Evaporation process
The salt water will be heated up in a bowl thing and then it will evaporate and will go up into the air and then the salt will be left alone in the bowl.
Chromatography
Paper chromatography is a method for separating dissolved substance
