3
Q
A

cardiac dilation of both ventricles

Pathogenesis: cardiac function is impaired -> myocardial fibers stretch thereby increasing the contractile force, stroke volume, & CO -> the increased contractile force has a limit, after which increased stretch will result in a decrease in tension developing -> chronic dilation of a ventricle can occur through addition of sarcomeres & hence lengthening of myocytes

Etiology: acute overload

(dust contained w/in macrophages)

22
Q

could be melanoma, melanosis, v. dark hemorrhage
(palpate: melanoma would feel like a mass)

23
Q

atelectasis
(pale, pink, poofy to deeper, darker red

24
Q

pulmonary atelectasis
(darker parts)

25

26
Q

pulmonary atelectasis
(can see it is depressed where it is dark, sharp demarcation)

29
Q
A

bullous emphysema

30
Q
A

combination of atelectasis & alveolar emphysema
(commonly seen in euth’d animals, bright red = emphysema, dark red = atelectasis)
