Q
What do tropic hormones do?
what are the 6 tropic hormones produced by the hypothalamus?
A
Tropic hormones affect the release of other hormones in the target tissue. These have direct effect on the release of anterior pituitary hormones.
- TRH ( thyrotropin releasing hormone - promotes TSH)
PRH (prolactin releasing hormone) = TRH - PIH (prolactin releasing inhibiting hormone - dopamine )
- CRH ( corticotropin releasing hormone )
- GnRH ( gonadotropin releasing hormone - releases LH + FSH)
- GHRH ( growth hormone releasing hormone )
- GHIH ( growth hormone inhibiting hormone - somatostatin )
