The T-Mic 2 looks a lot like AB’s first T-Mic. How is this one different?
The T-Mic 2 has a completely new, lightweight, robust design, based on Phonak’s receiver-in-the-canal hearing aid technology.
- The wire is flexible, but not formable.
- There also is a replaceable cover on the bottom of the T-Mic 2 to protect the microphone from debris.
True or False: The listening check requires a charged battery to function.

Naída CI must have power in order for the listening check to work.
How will a user know if they insert the Zinc Air batteries into the battery compartment incorrectly?
The battery drawer will not close.
What amount of current drain do you get from Zinc Air batteries when they are not in use?
The current drain of Zinc Air batteries is very low when not in use; they will last for ~3-4 weeks when not in use.
The battery life quoted from the Zinc Air batteries (31 hours) is lifetime when in use (the “active listening time”).
- You should remove the Zinc Air Battery Pak when not in use to avoid the batteries draining.
- Putting Naida CI in “standby-mode” will drain the battery a small amount, but not a lot.
What is the difference between Naida CI sleep mode and Naida CI standby mode?
Sleep Mode: When the battery is very low and can no longer support stimulation. The processor has enough power to show the low battery LED (blinks orange twice every 3 secs), but not enough to support stimulation.
**Standby Mode: ** Unique to Naida CI! Standby mode allows you to save power without having to remove the battery. You can enter this mode actively or passively. The LED shows Standby mode is entered as an orange LED fading out.
- Active: Press and hold program button for >4 seconds (and release!). To exit: short press of program button once.
- Passive: Enters automatically if Naida CI left unlocked for more than 5 minutes
Could a patient use Zinc Air batteries with a HiRes 120 program, or only with HiRes Optima?
We recommend the Zinc Air batteries for use with HiRes Optima. Use with other strategies may result in the system not having enough power to start-up.
SoundWaveTM 2.2 has the Battery Estimation tool in order to determine which programs are appropriate for use with Zinc Air batteries.
There may be cases where even an Optima patient cannot use Zinc Air. Therefore, you should use the Battery Estimation tool to check if the program/ battery combination are acceptable.
How does the air get into the zinc air battery cartridge?
There are two small vent holes on each side of the battery cartridge that create an air channel.
This is a nice aesthetic design (almost unnoticeable when the compartment is closed) in comparison to the competition, who uses air grills which are very noticeable.
Why don’t battery status LEDs work with zinc air batteries?
We cannot provide start-up information with zinc air batteries because it takes the zinc air cells about 15 minutes for the current levels to plateau.
When zinc air batteries are initially put on the processor, they peak - always showing full power (four LED blinks) upon start-up when this, in fact, may not be accurate.
Note: AB myPilot can be used to give a reliable battery status readout about 15 minutes after a zinc air cartridge has been placed on the Naída CI.
What parts will be available from OEPO with Naida CI?
The AAA PowerPak
- There is no PowerCel adapter for Naida CI Powercels.
- The AAA PowerPak will have an average of 129 hrs battery life.
What PowerCels can be used with the OEPO?
Is the telecoil in Naída CI the same as the telecoil in the Harmony?
Yes, the telecoil in the Naída CI is the same as Harmony; although the telecoil placement is optimized in the Naida to minimize any potential for telecoil noise.
Does Naída CI have an auto telecoil?
No.
The telecoil must be enabled in the software by the programming audiologist, and the recipient must manually switch the processor to the telecoil program.
How can a parent verify a child’s Naída CI volume?
- The programming audiologist can set the volume range to 0/0% in SoundWave.
- The parent can perform a Device Status read-out with the AB myPilot in order to determine the processor’s current volume, as well as the volume range available on the processor.
- The parent can remove and replace the battery to reset the program and volume to the default settings, as programmed in SoundWaveTM 2.2.
When will the internal alarm for low battery occur?
For the average recipient, the internal alarm will sound every 15 minutes, beginning approximately 45 minutes prior to the battery being fully depleted.
Consequently, most recipients will hear the low battery internal alarm 3 – 4 times.
It is important to note that the exact time when the low battery alarm will occur is dependent upon a number of factors, including M levels, impedances, skin flap, etc. so this may vary from recipient to recipient.

Are the buttons available in different colors?
The Naída CI buttons come in Grey, Black, or White.
This is not a selectable choice, but pre-determined based on the selected Naída CI color. Naída CI sound processor and button colors are shown below.
