Injuries in non-ambulant babies, fracures in babies, infants especially. Subdural bleeding, especially with encephalopathy, retinal haemorrhage,

What parent-specific factors are associated with abuse
Domesic violence, patental substance abuse/mental illness, learning difficulties, bad experiences of parenting/personal history of abuse
What social factors increase risk of NAI
Poverty, young parents, social isolation, 3+ children under 5
What factors regarding the child increases risk of abuse
Disability, preterm delivery, multiple pregnancy
How will the explanation of an NAI be given
Vague, innapropriate, or changes each time told
Regarding fractures, what suggests NAI
Absence of credible history, younger child, multiple fractures
What signs on general examination point to NAI
are height and weight thriving?
Are they clean/dressed approproately (well cared for)
Is the chld secure/settled or fearful? DOes the child seek security from the parent?

How is child abuse managed
Good records, pictures/photos, share concerns with colleague, report to childrens services
