What are nabothian cysts?
A
Fluid-filled cysts often seen on the surface of the cervix.

- Nabothian follicles

How big are nabothian cysts?
A
Up to 1cm in size (most 2mm to 30mm)

Are nabothian cysts harmful?
A
No - they are harmless and unrelated to cancer.

When might nabothian cysts form?
A
- After childbirth
- After minor trauma to cervix
- After cervicitis secondary to infection

What are the symptoms of nabothian cysts?
A
Usually found incidentally on speculum examination - do not typically cause symptoms.
Rarely, if very large, may cause feeling of fullness in pelvis.

What do nabothian cysts look like?
A
Smooth rounded bumps on cervix (usually near the os (opening)).
Have whitish or yellow appearance.
