What cells line the endocervix?
A
Columnar epithelium.

What is the transformation zone?
A
The border between the columnar epithelium of the endocervix and the stratified squamous epithelium of the ectocervix.
Transformation zone located on ectocervix and is visible during speculum examination.

How might ectropion present?
A
- Increased vaginal discharge
- Vaginal bleeding (esp. postcoital)
- Dyspareunia

Is ectropion associated with cervical cancer in any way?
A
No

What women are prone to cervical ectropion?
A
Those with higher oestrogen levels (younger women, those on COCP and pregnant women)

How is problematic bleeding from cervical ectropion managed?
A
Cauterisation of ectropion using silver nitrate or cold coagulation during colposcopy.
