To protect the facility, but also to protect residents, staff, and visitors.
Who makes up the Quality Assessment and Assurance Committe?
DON, MD or his/her appointee, at least three 3 staff members one of which must be the administrator, a board member or someone in a leadership role.
THE INFECTION PREVENTIONS MUST BE A MEMBER.
What are the duties of the QAAC (Quality Assessment and Assurance Committe)
Identify issues that negatively affect resident care, develop and implement plan of correction.
May oversee safety and infection control plans, and pharmaceutical services.
Who does the QAAC report to?
Report to the facility’s governing body or a designated person (s)
How often does QAAC meet?
At least quarterly and as needed.

What does the Patient Self-Determination Act require?
All health care facilities accepting Medicare and or Medicaid to recognize a person’s living will or POA for health care decisions.
AKA Advanced Directives.
What is the False Claims Act?
To prevent false claims for services not rendered, double billed , and not necessary.
