Na Flashcards
Four chambers
Right and left atrium ; right and left ventricle
Septum
The wall that divides the right, and left atrium from the right, and left ventricle
What does the blood vessels do?
Carries blood throughout the body
Arteries
Oxygenated blood away from the heart
Vein
Deoxygenated blood back to the heart
Capillaries
Connect arteries and veins
Blood
Carries oxygen and nutrients to cells and carbon dioxide and waste way from cells
what are the two cycles of contractions?
Systole and diastole
what are the two cycles of contractions?
Systole and diastole
Systole
Contraction of the heart -“lub” sound
Diastole
Relaxation of the heart - “dub” sound
Blood flow through the Cardiovascular System
Deoxygenated blood > veins > Right Atrium > Right Ventricle > Lungs
Oxygenated Blood > Lungs > Left Atrium > Left Ventricle > Aorta > Blood
Function of the Cardiovascular System
Function #1 delivers oxygen and neutron to the cells of the body and removes carbon dioxide and waste
Function, #2 maintains bodies blood pressure
Function, #3 Maintaining the Body’s pH
Function, #5-8 transporting hormones, fighting infection, aiding in digesting assisting in repair of damage tissue
Structure of the digestive system
Mouth, Pharynx, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, rectum
Enzyme in hormones of the digestive system
Gastrin: produced in the stomach and stimulates stomach acid
CHOLECYSTOKININ (CCK): produce in the small intestine and stimulates the release of enzymes from the pancreas and bile from the liver
Secretin: produce in the small intestine and stimulates the production of bicarbonate by the pancreas
insulin: produce in the pancreas and regulates blood sugar levels
Glucagon: produced in the pancreas, and helps to release glucose from the liver
Bile: produce by the liver and stored in the gallbladder- helps break down fat in the small intestine
