a b cell lymphoid malignany with abnormal plasma cells in the bone marrow

what are signs of myeloma?
A
CRAB: calcium raised renal impairment anaemia (pancyopenia) Bone pain

A
roleux

what is a key finding in electrophoresis?
A
bence jones proteins in urine

what does bone marrow infiltration lead to?
A
anaemia
pancytopenia: neutropenia, thrombocytopenia.

A
raised ESR
raised CA
abormal u&ES
monoclonal band

what is needed for diagnosis?
A
paraproteinaemia
increased plasma cells in bone marrow >10%
hypercalcaemia/ renal impairment/anaemia/ lytic bone lesions

what is the management of myeloma?
A
incurable treat with:
thalidomide/cyclophosphamide
