Myeloid Malignancy Flashcards
What are the symptoms, diagnostic tests and treatment of chronic myeloid leukaemia?
Symptoms: anaemia, splenomegaly, weight loss, hyperleukostasis, gout
Tests: blood count + film
Tm: tyrosine kinase inhibitors E.g. imatinib, dasatinib, allogenic transplantation
What are the symptoms, diagnostic tests and treatment of acute myeloid leukaemia?
Symptoms: bone marrow failure, anaemia, tcyp bleeding, infection due to neutropenia
Tests: blood count + film, bone marrow aspirate/trephine, cytogenics, immunophenotyping, CSF examination if symptoms, targeted molecular genetics, extended NGS myeloid gene panels
Tm: supportive care, antileukaemic chemotherapy, allogenic stem cell transplantation, all trans retinoic acid + arsenic trioxide, targeted treatment
What are the symptoms, diagnostic tests and treatment of myelodysplastic syndromes?
X
What are the symptoms, diagnostic tests and treatment of myeloproliferative disorders?
Polycythaemia Vera
Symptoms: headache, itch, vascular occlusion, thrombosis, TIA/stroke, splenomegaly
Tm: venesection, aspirin, hydrocarbamid, alpha interferon, ruxolifinib
Essential thrombocytopenia
Symptoms: arterial and venous thrombosis, digital ischaemia, gout, headache, mild splenomegaly
Tm: aspirin, hydroxycarbemide or amasrelide
Myeloproliferative disease is where the total number of blood cells slowly increase. In myelodysplastic disease, the blood cells do not mature and the number of blood cells become abnormal
