MDS - Pathophysiology
A
- Precancerous state
- Abnormal cell formation in bone marrow; destroyed by body after release; dcr in all blood cell types (pancytopenia)
- 30% develop acute leukemia

> Epoetin (Procrit) injections - Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant only curative treatment

> Azathioprine (Imuran)
