-Use cell phones for voice communication, emailing, text messaging, social media or accessing a web page when on the ground within four feet of the nearest rail of a track or on, under, or involved with the operation or movement of equipment or machinery (e.g. cranes, loaders, forklifts, intermodal hostlers, etc)

A

Laptops or similar devices must not be used while driving a BNSF vehicle off track. This includes display screens being open (if possible to be closed) or the screen being powered off completely if unable to be closed.

  3. Type alpha or numeric text on the keyboard or keypad of an electronic device when the equipment is in motion. (Equipment operators may use necessary keystroke functions for equipment control and testing/inspection purposes when in motion.)

  1. 1 & 2.2 - make sure channel is clear and properly identify yourself and the person you are hailing
  2. 3 Repetition - anyone receiving a transmission must repeat it to the person who transmitted it initially
  3. 4 Ending transmission - use “over” when expecting a response and use “out” when not expecting a response.
