Muslims and Christians Flashcards
In the year 1009, a fanatical Egyptian caliph
razed to the ground the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem.
For Muslims, the Crusades . . .
did not have a huge impact since they didn’t affect a large part of the Islamic world. But the legacy of them is negative and have tainted the Muslim view of Christianity.
The Crusades were originally . . .
launched to force Muslims to let Christians visit and worship at sacred sites associated with Christ. They weren’t an all out war against Muslims.
Saudi Arabia is considered . .
the most closed country in the world. No churches and no missionaries are allowed in the country.
Saudi Arabia spends . . .
millions of dollars promoting the building of mosques and the spread of Islam around the world. It is perpetually rated the most severe persecutor of Christians on earth.
Pope John Paul II in 1985 said to Muslims,
Your God and ours is the same, and we are brothers and sisters in the faith of Abraham.
The Quran cannot be correct because
- The Quran appeals to the Bible as God’s Word. (which says Jesus died on the cross.)
- Muhammad promised this wouldn’t happen.
- The Quran must agree with older revelations which they say all came from the same God.
- If a Muslim rejects the Bible then he must reject the Quran which appeals to the Bible as God’s Word.
- If a Muslim accepts the Bible he must reject the Quran because it contradicts the Bible.
Inspite of claiming to honor the Scriptures, Muslims will . . .
argue vehemently against the Bible.
Since the biblical text is earlier and is reliable, then the teachings of Muhammad,
coming six centuries later, must be wrong.
Shiites claim that Uthman left out
1/4 of the original Quran for political reasons.
In Sura 53:19-20 Muhammad acknowledged the existence of three pagan goddesses alongside Allah,
but then regretted what he did and confessed his error.
Muhammad couldn’t always distinguish between the voice of ____ and the voice of _________.
Allah
Satan
Muslims have constantly ridiculed the notion tha God could have a Son, yet the Bible uses the word son . .
in other ways besides meaning a physical male child who is the product of sexual union. Barnabas was known as son of encouragement - not because Encouragement was his father’s name, but because that was his nature.
The blessings to come were not through Ishmael, but through Isaac according to
Genesis 17:20-21, “Ishmael will be the father of 12 rulers, and I will make him into a great nation. But my covenant I will establish with Isaac.”
When witnessing to Muslims, do
- Respect them as people whom Jesus died for.
- Focus the conversation on Jesus and use the Word.
- Give literature about Jesus and the Bible.
- Invite a Muslim friend to church or a function at church.
- Pray and be available.
