What is Rhythm?
Music’s pattern in time, can exist without melody, as in the drumbeats of so-called primitive music
What is Melody?
Wide variety of timbres and dynamics, melody cannot exist without rhythm
What is Harmony?
Simultaneous pitches (tones, notes), or chords. Their construction and chord progressions and the principles of connection that govern them
What does it mean by the term Timbre?
The character, texture, and colour of a sound, not pitch, loudness, duration, or spatial location. It helps us judge whether what we’re listening to is a piano, flute, or organ
Texture
Tempo, melodic, and harmonic materials. Combined in a musical composition, determining the overall quality of the sound in a piece
Form
The organizing structure of a piece of music.
Tonality
Principle of organizing musical compositions around a central note, the tonic. Tonality refers to the system of relationships between notes, chords, and keys
