What is a clave?
A clave is an instrument and a rhythm in son salsa and some other American types of music. The clave sounds like the dun– dun–dun——-dun-dun rhythm, with three even triplets, a pause and then two fast quarters.

They are all types of Latin music that are all slow dances, in 2, with a dotted rhythm. They are like the song from carmen.

Cross-rhythms and poly-rhythms often involve a 3 time rhythm in one bar against a four beat rhythm or a two beat rhythm in one bar against a 2 beat rhythm. An example of this would be three groups of weavers against a 4 4 beat.
What is a characteristic of samba?
Samba tends to have lots of drums. Cross rhythms and poly rhythms common. Very fast, loud and percussive.
What is a meringue?
A very fast dance in 2 4 from the Dominican republic. Just look it up.
