Musculoskeletal system part 2 Flashcards
What bones make up your shoulder?
- clavicle
-scapula
-humerus
What is your scapula sometimes called?
shoulder blade
Glenoid cavity(fossa)
shallow fossa where the head of the humerus touches the scapula
What is the bump on the upper edge of the glenoid cavity?
supraglenoid tubercle
coracoid process
looks like a crows beak and juts out where humerus and scapula touch
Acromion process
projection of bone that juts out anteriorly from spine of scapula (larger coracoid process)
Spine of scapula
posterior surface of scapula that is divided by a thin “wall” of bone
Subscapular fossa
anterior surface of scapula that is a large smooth depression
Supraspinous fossa
superior surface of the spinous process and posterior face of scapula
Superior border
edge that separates supraspinous fossa from subscapular fossa
Medial Border
runs from superior angle, downward
Lateral Border
runs from glenoid cavity, downward
What is another word for clavicle?
Collar Bone
What is your shoulder joint formed by?
scapula and humerus
Nutrient Foramen
small holes on shaft that provide passageways for nerves and blood vessels
greater tubercle
larger bump or head of humerus
lesser tubercle
smaller bump on head of humerus
intertubercular sulcus
small groove between tubercles
deltoid tuberosity
rough region that provides attachment point for muscle
capitulum
touches radius, distal head
trochlea
smooth, spool- shaped structure next to capitulum, articulates with ulna
Coronoid fossa
depression on anterior humerus
Olecranon fossa
depression on posterior humerus
Medial epicondyle
smallish bump near trochlea
