What is your scapula sometimes called?
shoulder blade
Glenoid cavity(fossa)
shallow fossa where the head of the humerus touches the scapula
What is the bump on the upper edge of the glenoid cavity?
supraglenoid tubercle
coracoid process
looks like a crows beak and juts out where humerus and scapula touch
Acromion process
projection of bone that juts out anteriorly from spine of scapula (larger coracoid process)
Spine of scapula
posterior surface of scapula that is divided by a thin “wall” of bone
Subscapular fossa
anterior surface of scapula that is a large smooth depression
Supraspinous fossa
superior surface of the spinous process and posterior face of scapula
Superior border
edge that separates supraspinous fossa from subscapular fossa
Medial Border
runs from superior angle, downward
Lateral Border
runs from glenoid cavity, downward
