Muscular System Frog Flashcards
Forelimb and trunk muscles
Pectoralis and Deltoideus
Abdominal Muscles
Linea abla (not a muscle), rectus abdominis, external oblique, transversus abdominus
Dorsal and lateral trunk muscles
Latissimus dorsi, longissimus dorsi, iliolumbaris
Muscles of the thigh
Sartorius, Gracilis (Maj, min), triceps femoris, adductor magnus, adductor longus, biceps femoris, semitendinosus, semimembranosus
Pectoralis major m.
Forelimb and Trunk - abducts shoulder forward - thoracic region ventral view
Deltoid m.
Forelimb and Trunk - abducts the arm - top of arm ventral view
Linea alba
Connective tissue - Ventral Trunk - maintains abdominal muscles at certain proximity - midsagittal posterior
Rectus abdominus m.
Ventral Trunk - compresses the abdomen, flexes the trunk - medial posterior in abdominal region
External oblique m.
Ventral Trunk - compresses the abdomen - lateral in abdominal region
Transversus abdominus m.
Ventral Trunk - deep to external oblique m., maintains normal abdominanl wall tension
Latissimus dorsi m.
Dorsal Trunk - helps move forelimbs - top of Y dorsal view
Longissimus dorsi m.
Dorsal Trunk - Extends the vertebral column, raise the frog’s head - Bottom of Y
Iliolumbar m.
Dorsal Trunk - allows frog to sit comfortably while crouched, straighten backs while jumping - Deeper and lateral to Y
Sartorius m.
Ventral - Femur Hindlimb
Gracilis m.
Ventral - Femur Hindlimb
