I: Angle, Ramus and coronoid process of mandible

Lateral pterygoid
O: Entire muscle: sphenoid bone
I: mandible and TM joint
A: Protracts the mandible @ TMJ’s
Contralaterally deviates the mandible @ TMJ’s
N: Trigeminal nerve CN V
Lateral pterygoid nerve from anterior trunk of mandibular division
Medial pterygoid
O: Entire muscle: sphenoid bone
I: internal surface of the mandible
A: Elevates, Protracts and Contralateral deviates the mandible @ TMJ’s
N: Trigeminal nerve CNV mandibular division
Digastric (suprahyoid)
O: Post belly: Temporal bone - mastoid process
Ant belly: mandible - (digastric fossa)
I: central tendon bound to hyoid bone at body & greater Cornu
A: Depresses the mandible @ TMJ
Flexes the head and neck @ spinal joints
RMA: Elevates the hyoid bone
N: Ant: Trigeminal CNV and post:Facial nerve CNVII
Mylohyoid (suprahyoid)

Geniohyoid (suprahyoid)

Stylohyoid (suprahyoid)
O: Styloid process of temporal bone
