External obturator
Origin: ventral aspect of os coxae around obturator of humerus
Termination: trochanteric fossa
Action: adduct and/or rotate the limb laterally at the coxal joint
Internal obturator
Origin: dorsal aspect of os coxae around obturator foramen
Termination: trochanteric fossa
Action: rotate the limb laterally at the coxal joint
Quadratus femoris
Origin: ventral aspect of ischium
Termination: caudal femur near the trochanteric fossa
Action: extend coxal joint; adduct and/or rotate the limb laterally at the coxal joint
Biceps femoris

Quadriceps femoris
(rectus femoris, vastus lateralis, vastus intermedius, vastus medialis)
Origin: rectus femoris- ilium
other 3 heads: proximal femur
Termination: tibial tuberosity
Action: flex coxal joint (rectus femoris)
extend genual joint (all heads)
Iliopsoas
Origin (don’t have to know)
Termination: lesser trochanter

Lateral digital extensor
Origin (N/A)
Termination: lateral digits (4,5)
Action: flex the tarsocrural joint; extend digital joints
Peroneus longus
Origin: lateral collateral ligament of genual joint
Termination: 4th tarsal bone and planar base of metatarsal bones
Action: flex tarsocrural joint
Gastrocnemius
(medial and lateral heads)
Origin: distal caudal femur
Termination: tuber calcanei of calcaneous
