3 Parts Anterior, Superior, and Posterior.
O - Anterior - Temporal Fascia & Epicranial Aponeurosis
O - Superior - Temporal Fascia & Epicranial Aponeurosis
O - Posterior - Base of Mastoid Process.
I - A - Anterior Ear
I - S - Upper Ear
I - P - Lower Ear
A - A - Elevates & draws ear forward
A - S - Retracts & elevates ear
A - P - Retracts & elevates
N - Facial Nerve (CN VII)
Occipitofrontalis or/
Epicranius
Muscles of the Cranium
Occipital Belly
O - Superior nuchal line, External Occipital Protuberance, Mastoid Process of Temporal Bone.
I - Skin of Occipital Region & Epicranial Aponeurosis
A - Moves scalp backwards.
N - Facial Nerve CN VII - Posterior Auricular Branches
Frontalis
O - Epicranial Aponeurosis
I - Skin of frontal Region, Epicranius Aponeurosis
A - Wrinkles forehead skin, raises eyebrows.
N - Facial Nerve CN VII - Temporal Branches
Procerus
Muscles of the Nose.
O - fascia covering the nasal bone, nasal cartilage
I - Skin over the lower part of the forehead between eyebrows.
A - Draws down medial angle of eyebrows, produces transverse wrinkles over the bridge of the nose.
N - Facial Nerve CN VII
Nasalis
Muscles of the Nose.
O - Transverse Portion (Superior) - Maxilla
O - Alar Portion - Maxilla
I - T - By Aponeurosis with Nasalis
I - A - Ala of the Nose
A - T - Depresses cartilage of the nose
A - A - Enlarges nostrils
N - Facial Nerve CN VII
Depressor Septi Nasi
Muscles of the Nose.
O - Incisive Fossa of Maxilla
I - Ala & Septum of Nose
A - Draws ala of Nose downward to “close the nose”
N - Facial Nerve CN VII
Orbicularis Oculi
Circumorbital & Palpebral Muscles. (Eyes)
O - Nasal part of the Frontal Bone, Frontal process of the maxilla & Medial Palpebral Ligament.
I - Muscle Fibers around Orbit, downward to cheek, blends with other structures.
A - Palpebral - Closes eyes gently.
A - Orbital Part - Stronger closing of eyes.
N - Facial Nerve CN VII
Corrugator Supercilli
Circumorbital & Palpebral Muscles (Eyes)
O - Medial End of Superciliary Arch
I - Deep surface of the skin above the middle of the orbital arch.
A - Draws eyebrows downward & upward (frowning)
N - Facial Nerve CN VII
Depressor Anguli Oris
Buccolabial Muscles (Mouth)
O - Oblique Line of the Mandible
I - Angle of the mouth, blends with the adjacent muscle.
A - Depresses the angle of the mouth.
N - Facial Nerve CN VII
Depressor Labii Inferioris
Buccolabial Muscles (Mouth)
O - Oblique Line of the Mandible
I - Skin to lower lip (blends with orbicularis oris)
A - Depresses lower lip & draws it laterally
N - Facial Nerve CN VII
Levator Anguli Oris
Buccolabial Muscles (Mouth)
O - Canine Fossa of the Maxilla
I - Angle of the mouth, blends with orbicularis oculi
A - Depresses the nasiolabial furrow
N - Facial Nerve CN VII
Mentalis
Buccolabial Muscles (Mouth)
O - Incisive fossa of the Mandible
I - Skin of the chin
A - Raises and protrudes the lower lip (wrinkles the skin of the lower chin)

Zygomaticus Minor

O - Zygomatic bone, malar surface
I - Obicularis Oris of the upper lip.
A - Deepens the nasiolabial furrow (sadness)

Levator Labii
Buccolabial Muscles (mouth)
O - Lower Margin of the Orbit
I - Obicularis of the upper lip
A - Moves upper lip upward & forward
N - Facial Nerve CN VII
