Muscles Of The Body Flashcards
Deltoid
The deltoid muscle is located on the outer part of the shoulder and is recognized by its triangular shape.
Pectoralis major
The pectoralic major consists of a clavicular part and a sternal part, both converging to a flat tendon that inserts on the humerus
Biceps
The bicep is a large muscle that lies on the front of the upper arm between the shoulder and the elbow
Tricep
The tricep is a large muscle on the back of the upper limb. It is the muscle principally responsible for extension of the elbow joint (straightening of the arm)
External oblique
The external oblique muscle is one of the outermost abdominal muscles, extending from the lower half of the ribs around and down to the pelvis
Latissimus dorsi
It extends and internally rotates the arm
Gluteals
The gluteals is located in your bum and is known as one of the strongest muscles in the human body. The gluteus muscle is responsible for movement of the hip and thigh.
Hip flexor
The psoas muscle is a deep muscle that connects your spine to your leg. It runs from your lower back through your pelvis, passing to the front of your hip where it attaches to the top of your femur, which is your thigh bone.
Quadriceps
The quadriceps is a group of muscles located in the front of the thigh
Hamstring
A hamstring is one of the three posterior thigh muscles in between the hip and the knee. It is quite easy to get injured by pulling your hamstring.
Tibialis anterior
The muscle inserts into the base of the first bone in the foot, located just behind the big toe.
Gastrocnemius
The gastrocnemius muscle is a muscle located on the back portion of the lower leg, being one of the two major muscles that make up the calf.
