Muscles Of The Arm Flashcards
Biceps Brachii Origin
Long Head: supraglenoid tubercle of scapula
Short Head: Coracoid process of the scapula (Anterior Lateral)
Biceps Brachii Insertion
Both heads converge to a single tendon that inserts on the radial tuberosity and the bicipital aponeurosis.
Biceps Brachii Innervation
Musculocutaneus Nerve (C5, C6)
Biceps Brachii Action
Long Head: Supinates forearm, flexes supinated elbow, flexes shoulder
Short Head: Resists shoulder dislocation
Biceps Brachii Arterial Supply
Brachial Artery and anterior circumflex humeral arteries
Brachialis Origin
Distal half of the anterior surface of the humerus
Brachialis Insertion
Coronoid process and the tuberosity of the ulna
Brachialis Innervation
Musculocutaneous (C5, C6)
Radial Nerve has minor role in innervating lateral part
Brachialis Action
Flexion of the forearm at the elbow joint
Brachialis Arterial Supply
Brachial artery, radial recurrent anterior artery
Inferior ulnar collateral anterior artery
Coracobrachialis Origin
Coracoid process of the scapula
Coracobrachialis Insertion
Middle 1/3 of the medial surface of the humerus
Coracobrachialis Innervation
Musculocutaneous Nerve (C5, C6)
Coracobrachialis Action
Adduction of the arm, flexion of the arm at the shoulder joint, resists shoulder dislocation
Coracobrachialis Arterial Supply
Brachial artery
Anterior circumflex humeral artery
Triceps Brachii Origin
Long head: infraglenoid tubercle of the scapula
Medial Head: posterior surface of the humerus (inferior to radial groove)
Lateral head: posterior surface of the humerus (superior to radial groove
Triceps Brachii Insertion
Olecranon of the ulna
Fascia of the forearm
Triceps Brachii Innervation
Radial Nerve (C6-C8)
Triceps Brachii Action
Elbow Joint: Extension of the forearm
Shoulder Joint: Extension and adduction of the arm (long head)
Triceps Brachii Arterial Supply
Deep brachial artery
Superior ulnar collateral artery
Posterior circumflex humeral artery
Anconeus Origin
Lateral Epicondyle of the Humerus
Anconeus Insertion
Lateral surface of olecranon and superior part of the posterior surface of the ulna
Anconeus Innervation
Radial nerve (C7, C8, T1)
Anconeus Action
Assists triceps in elbow extension, stabilizes elbow joint, abducts elbow during pronation
Anconeus Arterial Supply
Recurrent interosseous artery
