Muscles of Respiration Flashcards
What goes through the 3 major openings in the diaphragm and where are they located? (roughly)
T8- Inferior vena cava- most anterior
T10- Esophagus and Vagal trunks (bc u eat in vegas) - middle
T12- Aorta, Azygos and thoracic duct - closest to vertebral column
Where is the transverse thoracic plane line and what happens there?
line drawn at sternal angle (level of T4/5)
trachea bifurcates there, and the azygos vein drains into the superior vena cava
