Origin: Zygomatic bone
Insertion: Skin at the corner of the mouth
Facial expression: Draws angle of the mouth superiorly and laterally

Origin: Zygomatic bone
Insertion: Upper lip
Facial expression: Elevates upper lips.
Exposes upper teeth

Origin: Maxillary bone

Origin: Fascia over the parotid gland
Insertion: Skin at the corner of the mouth
Facial Expression: Draws the mouth laterally

Origin: Mandible
Insertion: Lower lips
Facial expression: Depresses if lowers the lower lip
Orbicularis iris
Origin: Muscle fibers surrounding the opening of the mouth
Insertion: Skin at the corner of the mouth
Facial expression: Closes the lips and shapes the lip during speech

Origin: Temporal bone
Insertion: mandible
Facial expression: Elevates and retracts the mandible
Masseter
Origin: Zygomatic arch and Maxilla
Insertion: Mandible

Buccinator
Origin: Maxilla and Mandible
Insertion: Bends with the fibers of the Orbicularis oris
Facial Expression: Draws the corner of the lips laterally and presses the cheeks against the teeth and lips

Origin: Sphenoid and Maxilla
Insertion:Mandible
Mastication: Elevates and protracts Mandible
Lateral pterygoid
Origin: Sphenoid
Insertion: Mandible
Facial Expression: Depressed and protracts mandible
