Calcium ions enter the cell cytoplasm either intracellularly from the SARCOPLASMIC RETICULUM or extracellularly, where an influx of Ca2+ enter through the calcium ion channels.
The calcium binds to the CALMODULIN
It then activates the MYOSIN LIGHT CHAIN KINASE
It then phosphorylates the head of the mysosin light chain
Which then increases the activity of MYOSIN ATPase
Active myosin slides with actin to cause a contraction
